We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Lynn Senegal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamie Lynn, what do you want people to remember about you?
I would like to be remembered as someone who fought the good fight for queer people to be able to follow their dreams. I fight this fight with love and understanding and my art rather than fighting it with violence and misunderstanding which would ultimately create more division in the end.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
During the course of my career in professional wrestling I have always been different. Even before my transition, I was one of the first queer kids to work bigger indy promotions and really bring attention to LGBTQ+ Wrestling. I am so proud of my match with former WWE Diva Melina, it was my number one dream match and it was so much fun and everything I hoped it would be. I think having and respecting your veterans and people who came in the industry before you is a very important thing to do, which I think has been lost. I respect and love all of my vets and any chance I have had I always picked their brain to learn their journey, their tips, their secrets to success. It didn’t make it any easier to try and thrive in the industry, but it definitely did make it more comfortable to have a solid support system.
Along the way. I have learned that some people will pretend to be your friends and take everything they can without offering to even try to give back. I learned not everyone wants you to succeed. Having those harsh lessons has made me appreciate the people in my life that much more.
I want the world to know. that I am SO passionate about my art. I want them to know how hard I have worked over the years to do this. That the glow in my eyes only exists when I get to perform.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would pick them up for PHX airport and we would head straight to Sedona for a little shopping and snackage! Then from Sedona we would head straight to the Grand Canyon. My favorite little hotel is called the Red Feather Lodge and they have a cute little Mexican restaurant attached with amazing Margaritas! The next morning we would go to the GC and afterwards we would go to Winslow, Meteor Crater, and Old Route 66. If we had time I would love to see Antelope Canyon!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If it wasn’t for my circle of people in my career who always have my back I truly don’t think I would be as sane as I am now. I don’t think I would be able to push through some of the hardships I have faced. Gia, Penelope, GiGi, Jessicka, and Salina have kept me grounded and hungry and I am truly grateful.
