We had the good fortune of connecting with Deepika Haldankar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deepika, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I started my business not just to create beautiful images, but also to give those stories a voice. My work is about helping small businesses be seen and supported. Many of the brands I work with are local makers, home-based food businesses, or eco-conscious product businesses. By providing them with strategic images and visual brand reviews, I help businesses to establish a strong foothold in the market.

For me, it’s more than styling a shot or adjusting the color tone. It is about asking questions like, ” What does this brand stand for? Who is it for? What feeling should someone have when they see this?” When those answers come through in the visuals, the brand feels more confident and aligned. And that confidence carries into how they show up among other businesses.

I also emphasize working with purpose-driven brands. Whether it is a low-waste shop, a handmade food business, or a brand focused on ethical sourcing, my main goal is to visually communicate their values in a way that resonates with conscious consumers. For me, a good photo doesn’t just sell a product, but it should also tell a story of sustainability, culture, and care.

Real impact, to me, isn’t just about images, but also about access to knowledge. I share what I know with everyone in the community. Whether it’s simple lighting tips, behind-the-scenes glimpses, or guidance on preparing for a shoot, I want business owners to feel empowered. Not everyone is ready to hire a photographer right away, and that’s completely okay. If I can help someone improve their visuals even slightly, it’s still a step toward being seen.

In many ways, I see myself as a collaborator in someone else’s journey. And if that visibility helps a small business grow, reach new people, or feel proud of how they’re showing up, that’s where I feel the real impact.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In my photography, I’m really drawn to the quiet narrative behind everyday objects. The way a dish, a handmade product, or a carefully packaged item can carry culture, memory, and meaning with it.

I’m most proud of how my work has evolved from simply taking photos to helping brands understand themselves visually. My visual brand reviews have become a meaningful extension of my art. They allow me to step into a brand’s world and help them align with what they see and stand for. For me, it is powerful and rewarding.

I am a self-taught photographer. I started my creative journey with curiosity and very limited knowledge about photography. There were moments of doubt, questioning whether my work was good enough. I spent years learning, experimenting, failing quietly, and trying again. It was a slow build of consistency, self-trust, and showing up even when it felt absolutely uncertain.

Throughout this process, the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that growth in this industry is as much internal as it is external. Skill matters, but so does patience, resilience, and the ability to stay grounded. I’ve also learned that true success is quiet, steady, and deeply fulfilling.

What I want the world to know about my brand is that it’s built on Care. I care for the details, the people behind the products, and the stories. I’m passionate about working with small businesses, sustainable brands, and those rooted in culture and craftsmanship, because I believe those stories deserve to be seen out in the world cause they are deeply human.

If someone can look at an image I’ve created and feel something, whether it’s warmth, curiosity, or a sense of familiarity. Then I know I’ve done my job.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First, I will tell them to come during Fall, Winter, or Spring. I don’t want them to exhaust themselves during the hot summer months.

Then once they are here, I will take them to Eggstasy for an amazing filling breakfast. Once that’s done, we will head to Musical Instrument Musume (MIM) or Phoenix Art Musume.

After spending a day there, we will head to Riparian Preserve Park in Gilbert or Tempe Town Lake. Both these places are great to unwind and enjoy nature in the middle of the city’s hustle.

I will also plan a trip to Sedona, Flagstaff, and the Grand Canyon. All these places are gorgeous from November to March.

If we have more time in the Phoenix area, I would love to take them to the Desert Botanical Garden. And for the nightlife and fun, Scottsdale will be my go-to place.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My journey towards photography wouldn’t have been possible without my husband. I was introduced to food photography via food blogging. In the beginning, I shot images with a point-and-shoot camera. My husband bought me my first DSLR. And then, as things grew, he encouraged and bought special lenses and other equipment. He has always been my silent, strong support, and I am always thankful.

I was also inspired by the Book, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho. This book was the reason I took a step to follow my dreams towards getting into photography in the first place.

And last but not least- my clients. Trusting me in bringing their stories and vision to life via images is a big step, and I will always be thankful for them.
