We had the good fortune of connecting with Agustin Vargas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Agustin, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
All the daily experiences. It all depends on where I am and how I feel
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
To get to the place where I am, the most important activity has been curiosity, learning about life, how things work, the qualities of each person, the different techniques of artistic painting, the various art proposals, the bases of each philosophical current, in short, to question everything that surrounds me. Within art the path has been easy to the extent that painting is my passion, I like to do what I do and I enjoy it. The biggest challenge has been to survive through art, few are the people who invest in art. The main lesson that I have learned has been to trust and believe in myself and in what I do, therefore to carry on with that security and confidence. I want people to know my work, which is an individual and intimate proposal, it is a very particular expression of myself.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First, I would take them to visit La Montaña Roja, visit the wild horses to do some sketches and hikes. My favorite place to eat is: Tarbell’s Restaurant and I couldn’t miss a visit to the Phoenix Art Museum
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To my Father
