We had the good fortune of connecting with Autumn Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Autumn, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I grew up in Atlanta, Ga. My mother was a very creative person. Throughout my childhood she encouraged me to draw, paint, sing, and do anything that inspired me. I would often watch her draw and sew then try my best to copy things she made, especially her drawings. She also encouraged me to have a love of adventure. My siblings and I would explore and play games in neighborhood gardens. I would often find myself wandering about admiring the beauty of all the greenery and blooms I discovered. It was then that I developed a great love for the beauty of the earth and its unique botanical life!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work is a unique combination of paint, abstract line, and bold color. I have been painting since childhood, but feel my style has become much more honed and defined in more recent years. I think that artistically I am constantly growing, always wanting to improve and edit my work to a level that makes me proud of what I have created.

I definitely had a lot to learn when I began selling my work. I have learned that it’s important to paint what I’m inspired by, and do what I enjoy. That joy will come across in my work, and is obvious to my audience. I have also learned it’s important to have a signature style that is recognizable to others. Challenging myself artistically and asking my audience for feedback about my work has also been a huge contribution to my growth.

In addition to creating beautiful art for the home, I wanted to design unique textiles inspired by my art. I wanted my art community be able to enjoy my designs on every day household items such as tea towels and oven mitts. It was my goal to create a variety of happy and colorful items with high quality fabrics.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This question made me laugh since my best friend gets in town tomorrow night, and I have lots planned! In addition to being an artist, I am a huge foodie. I love to cook and eat. So, I plan to take my bestie for a few good meals. We are staying at mountain shadows and going for a steak dinner at Durant’s. I love their prime rib plus their fabulous martinis. Also, one my favorite foods is a good old fashioned cheeseburger, so I am planning to take my friend to Windsor since their burger is fantastic! We will visit old town Scottsdale because we both love boutiques. I want her to do some shopping that has a local desert vibe.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have a very loyal group of art supporters and collectors on Instagram. I feel so thankful to be able to do something I love so much as my job. Art is truly my passion and outlet. I could not do it if it wasn’t for my incredible art community that constantly cheers me on and fuels me to keep creating. I would also like to shoutout @juliebluebirddesigns on Instagram. She is a super talented and sweet jewelry designer. I adore her unique beach inspired pieces.
