We had the good fortune of connecting with Brekyn Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brekyn, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I would say the most important factor behind my success is the fact that I stay true to who I am as a person. I make decisions based on my values and morals, even if they aren’t always the popular decisions. I make sure to stay in line with my values when it comes to hiring employees, how I treat my employees, and how I handle my customer service, to name a few things.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own a meal prep company, Prepped By Brek, based in Mesa, Arizona! Prepped By Brek has taught me more in this last year and a half than I ever could have imagined. We are unlike any other meal prep company due to our convenient, simple, and tasty meals, along with our outstanding customer service. I started this company about a year and a half ago, and have received an amazing amount of support since. We sold over 23,000 meals in our first year, and are now cooking over 1,000 meals per week. It’s a huge blessing that I never would have thought could happen to me! It definitely has come with many struggles and challenges, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It is by no means easy, but I have been able to hire some amazing people to help me run this business, and I could not be more thankful for them. Regardless of the challenges I have had with getting started, finding a great commercial kitchen, finding great employees, having to move on from ones that were not the best fit, and struggles with organization of a quickly growing business, we have come such a long way and I see so much for the future of Prepped By Brek.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely do a morning out in the desert off roading, followed by an afternoon on the lake with friends. At night I would take my friend out to a great dinner in downtown Gilbert, followed by a night of going out country dancing at Whiskey Row.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is no way in hell I would be where I am today without my family. They have been my #1 fans since I started this business, and cheer me on like no other.
