We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Engelhart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
A huge part of success is being personable and relatable. With my role as a personal trainer I never want to come off like I know everything or like I am perfect. I too am on my own journey and have had my ups and downs. It’s important for my clients to know that I have been in their shoes. I make sure to come off in a way where my clients can confide in me, trust me and all around just be comfortable. They are in a very vulnerable position and it already took so much for them to come to me at their lowest. Being successful isn’t about the money I make, it’s about making a difference in peoples life and changing them for the better.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My brand and my story is SELF MADE. I am the sole owner and employee of my business. I’m so proud of where DK Fitness Daily has come today. The steps to get here were not easy but I will say once I got here, it became natural. I was finally in the spot where I was meant to be. After losing my job as a bartender in 2020 I had to figure out a way to make a living. I had already wanted to get out of that industry desperately! It all started by helping a couple family members and close friends. I began posting their journeys on my Instagram page and before I knew it, little by little, I had more attention and people were reaching out to me. I have always had fitness in my background. Whether it be playing various sports growing up or the years of CrossFit I did post high school, I had gained enough knowledge and hands on experience to make me feel comfortable enough to teach others. What sets me apart from others in this industry is my ability to keep molding my training style and the way I care for my clients. I make sure to do a deep dive on each client getting to know their history and how they work in their day to day life. I have built such a personal and professional relationship with my clients that I make my gym a safe space. I’m always here to hear them out, make them feel the love for themselves when they walk out the door, and I make sure to keep the relationship alive even outside of the gym. Whether it be activities, supporting their small businesses, texting them and checking in… I make sure they always know I’m there for them as a coach and a friend!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When it comes to seeing friends and relatives that visit the area I am such a homebody but that doesn’t mean I don’t like to get out and about! I love to have a good game night a drinks at my house but if I had to show my loved ones around I’d definitely start with showing them the beauty AZ has to offer! The Superstition Mountains are my favorite to hike. A straight shot down the 60 making them not too far yet you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, the Superstition Mountains have my heart! It’s the perfect back drop to represent Arizona at its finest, especially at sunset! As far as food goes… I’m a huge fan of the local breweries with Four Peaks being at the top of my list! The beer and food are amazing. Not your typical bar food. Other than Four Peaks you definitely want to try out O.H.S.O and San Tan Brewing. Not a beer person? My go to for Italian is Spinato’s and Pomo Pizzeria with a close second. Both are local spots to Arizona and their food is mouth watering! So I know I hit a lot on food… I’m a foodie… but when family and friends come to town I never pass up an opportunity to show them northern Arizona! So I love to head up to Sedona for some more hiking and flagstaff to cool off! Both have incredible views unlike any other… you don’t even feel like you’re in Arizona anymore!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Hands down my clients. The biggest part of success is word of mouth. My business has grown simply because people talk, and they have positive things to say and pass on. Their experience was so great they told their friends and family and slowly but surely that’s how it grows. The same goes for the support system I have found through my Instagram page. I started my page as a way to log my own workouts and look back on them. People started following along, saw me, saw my clients, and started following along on the journey.
