Meet Diego Perez

We had the good fortune of connecting with Diego Perez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diego, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Never give up and work hard

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Since I was a child I grew up with museums and classical music concerts. Since I was a child I liked to look at the art books that my parents collected, and that is how my inclination towards the arts began to have an increasingly fixed direction. Baroque painting in particular has always been an essential element for my search, in addition to the fact that my family always maintained a characteristic towards humor. That is how I combined those 2 factors to carry out my work as a painter. I am the result of these two elements.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a first day, I think it’s important for him to get to know downtown Phoenix and eat somewhere that seems nice.
Second, we would go to Grand Ave to visit the different galleries to see the local art of the city.
Five and Dinner is a must-visit restaurant for both its food and its style.
Flagstaff is a place that I really like despite its remoteness.
Lastly, I would take him to visit the murals and public art that I have worked on for the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this interview to all the people who have supported me and believed in my work from the beginning. They know who they are and I deeply thank them as well as the community in general that reminds me that every day is an opportunity to continue growing.
