We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Cacinda Maloney and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Maloney, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
I worked hard for over 8 years in the travel business to make my dream of becoming a luxury travel content creator happen. I followed up on every lead I could find and ended up working for some of the best names in the luxury travel business. From Four Seasons, Fairmount Rocky Mountaineer, and Travelocity to Trafalgar, Qatar Airways. Holland America, to JayWay Travel in Europe. I have sailed on small cruise ships that are known worldwide for their luxuries, such as Regent, Crystal, Viking, and Avalon. I’ve even taken small luxury
cruise ships to the Galapagos working with Ecoventura as well as working with the #1 city in the world (voted by Conde Nast Traveller) San Miguel de Allende, Mexico I have worked with them all, including the countries of Germany, Italy, India, and Norway, plus a whole lot more! I also write about adventure and culture as well.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have overcome many challenges, but in the end, I won! As I got to see the world, from African safari’s to swimming with Beluga whales in the wild in Canada, to luxury yacht cruising. You name it, I have done it! And enjoyed every minute of it. In fact, I have traveled every six weeks of my life for well over 25 plus years (really more than that, but who is counting?) LOL I was a Chiropractic physician in Phoenix for 22 years, started a travel website eight years ago, and now I travel pretty much nonstop. In fact, I just got back from my third time in the Galapagos Islands on March 16th, almost oblivious to what was going on in the world, as I was on a dive trip and had no internet. It was Heaven! All was good with the world back then!
I have so many favorite memories I don’t know what to do with myself! • Fashing (or carnival) in Rottweil, Germany • Swimming with Beluga whales in Manitoba, Canada • Diving with schools of Hammerhead Sharks in the Galapagos Islands of Wolf and Darwin in Ecuador • African safari and spending time with the nomadic Hadzabe tribe in Tanzania • Dancing the Tango in Buenos Aires, Argentina • Rappelling a 100-foot waterfall in the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica • Attending the Stats Opera in Vienna, Austria • Christening a luxury ship in Miami, Florida USA with Entertainer SEAL • Listening to silence in Feynan, Jordan • Floating in the Dead Sea, Israel • Traipsed the underground Soviet silos in Lviv, Ukraine • Seeing Chernobyl for myself. I could go on, but I don’t want to make you jealous! ‘
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Are you kidding? There are so many wonderful places in the world, I couldn’t really just pick one. But as mentioned before, I did tell you about a few of my highlights. But I will divulge that my favorite place in the entire world is – San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and I am going again this week!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, Dr. Patrick Maloney, was a driving force in me becoming a luxury travel content creator. He showed me the world, and I ran with it!
