We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Cheroske and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eric, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work life balance is a perfect place to start. This has changed quite a bit since the pandemic happened. Being shut down completely in spring of 2020 gave us plenty of time to evaluate this. Got You Covered Entertainment is now in our 18th year and we were working around the clock 7 days a week to keep growing the company bigger and bigger. 60-80 hours a week was common. Now as we are ramping back up we are focused on spending our “work” time on the right things in oder to have “free” time for things outside of work that enrich our lives.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been both a radio and live event DJ as an artist over the years and loved both. Today I find more fulfillment in a mentoring role for talented musicians and DJ’s. This is my time to give back to the music community all that it has given me for the last 35 years. I enjoy helping artists take their performances and career to the next level. Artist management as an art, brings me great joy.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We have everything here in the valley of the sun. This week would include spring training baseball, golf, beer tasing, great food and a few nights in Sedona doing the same thing. Soon we will have concerts again!! 🤘🏻
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My story involves many people along the way that helped make me who I am today. As far back as high school we had an off campus radio station where I was a DJ and got hooked on sharing music with people. Broadcasting school was also a stepping stone to where I am now. Working with Valley Media the worlds biggest distributor of recorded music during the compact disc boom of the late 80’s-late 90’s taught me how to sell entertainment. Being the President of independent record label Aezra Records with distribution by EMI helped with learning how to manage artists and book tour dates among other things. Every step along this journey has helped me to help build Got You Covered to where it is now. The biggest factors today in our success are my daughter Jamie Cheroske who manages our day to day and my wife Paige Cheroske who over sees all the finance and HR.
