We had the good fortune of connecting with Karolyn Kiburz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karolyn, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
We are very professional and pride ourselves on the doing the right (ethical) thing for our clients and our business. We also spend a lot of time networking and that has helped us stay in the game for a long time, even through the pandemic. And it was important that we diversified, having clients were we just managed their meetings/events and also full association management clients so although our business was negatively impacted by the pandemic, we were able to ride it out with the associations we managed.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are most proud that we have had a successful woman-owned business for 21+ years. It was not easy and I have sacrificed many hours/days/months of personal time for my business but I would not trade one minute of it. We were fortunate to get a large client (Scottsdale Culinary Festival) not long after I started the company so that expedited our success. Also diversifying was a key to sustainability. Although it’s been a couple of decades now, we are just as passionate about the clients and services that we provide as we were in 1999.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh gosh, that’s a tough one. It would depend on the time of year. I would encourage them to come during one of the Valley’s signature events (Fiesta Bowl, Phoenix Open, spring training, one of the many culinary festivals, etc.) and we would definitely hit that up. For one of the dining options, I would take them to somewhere with a fabulous view (Sanctuary, Different Pointe in Time, Wrigley Mansion). Definitely do a spa day (Princess, Omni Montelucia, Phoenician, Civana). Visit some live music spots. Day trip to Carefree/Cave Creek.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would say the members at National Speakers Association. I worked there prior to starting my business and the encouragement and advice they gave was invaluable.
