We had the good fortune of connecting with Kodi Riddle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kodi, what principle do you value most?
My personal core values have evolved into the core values of our real estate team. I’m not sure that I could pick one over the others. I live by these core values which is why I use them to hire team members for our real estate team. I also use them to let people go from our real estate team. They mean everything, they are everything.

We hustle and work hard ~ Abraham Lincoln said “things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.” I strongly believe that this core value is needed in life. This is a simple business but it’s not easy and people need to understand that it is about fairness, it’s about those who are willing to put in the work. Those willing to put in the work will reap the benefits.

Number two we embrace accountability and discipline. Jim Rohn said, “discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments “. It’s a pigheaded discipline that’s going to ensure that we stay in the top 1%. Most people don’t have it so when you do implement accountability and discipline, it’s easy to edge out your competition.

We bring a positive attitude. John Wooden said things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out”. There’s fierce competition in this business and there can be difficult clients as well. A positive attitude is a critical and long-term success.

We have a growth mindset. Growth is the great separator between those who succeed in those who do not when I see a person beginning to separate themselves from the pack it’s almost always due to personal growth.” This is a quote by John Maxwell. In order for us to deliver a world-class client experience, we have to continually strive to become the best at what we do and always look for ways to make it better.

We are team players. Vince Lombardi said an individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, civilization work”. Our team’s productivity goal Is made up of the collective of each individual’s personal productivity goal on the team. More importantly, though, is our culture and collective genius. Every single one of us is stronger because of the team. We all do better on the team than we would do on our own.

We do the right thing. If I had to choose one that is more important than all the rest it would be this one. This one came directly from my mother, who was also a real estate broker here in the valley. Her name was Karlene, her legacy falls to me and I want to make her proud every day. We do the right thing even when no one else is watching, we help others even if it means no one will ever give us credit or applause. Under promise and over deliver… Every single time! It is not about the money but about doing the right thing for each client that affords us the opportunity to “Protect Their Interests”. The money will always come if you do that.

What should our readers know about your business?
The most powerful lesson I have learned to date is that one must be grounded. My faith grounds me. I didn’t always lean into my faith.

On a personal level, I’d worry about every single thing: Am I good enough? Am I a good mom, a good wife, a good daughter? You name it…I worried.

In addition, stress and worry can take their toll on you in this business. Early on in my career, I worried about where or when I was going to make another paycheck, nothing felt certain. Later on, I worried if I would be a good leader.

Now, I have my faith in God and my mother’s words of wisdom, “Do the Right Thing”. So, I faithfully continue day after day, week after week, month after month, and year after year simply doing the right thing and it’s amazing what has happened. We’ve built a multi-7 figure annual income with appreciative clients and grateful team members. Proud to say, we even have grateful young adult children!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have lived here since 1990, there are so many things to share. I would want a month, not a week.

We would start with a wonderful dinner at Ocean Prime, followed by a comedy club stop at Rick Bronson’s House of Comedy.

A day or two would be spent at my home, mainly in the backyard. We would lounge by the pool during the day and enjoy wonderful dinners and cocktails watching the amazing AZ sunsets.

Central Phoenix would be visited for lunch at Pizza Bianco, and dinner at Richardson’s.

Most definitely an entire day and evening would be spent in Cave Creek, grabbing brunch at the Grotto Cafe or The English Rose Team Room then enjoying walking and shopping all over the beautiful area. Some hot spots to mention would be Stagecoach Village, Cave Creek Olive Oil Company & Cave Creek Candle. You may even be lucky to see a wild west show at Frontier Town. Then, finally wrapping up the night with dinner at Keeler’s Steak House, and off to Harold’s for some dancing.

We’d have to hit Cave Creek for another day as well: I wouldn’t want my guests to miss out on hiking Black Mountain or Elephant Mountain Trail, having coffee at the Roastery of Cave Creek, happy hour drinks later at Local Johnny’s, and hitting the mechanical bull at the Buffalo Chip Saloon.

Gammage Theater would be a must, no matter what Broadway play was there! Also, a Cardinals game would be on the agenda. I enjoyed games with my mom when she was alive and that will forever be close to my heart.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Huge shout out to my mother, my HERO! She owned and operated her own real estate company and taught me well. Without her, I would not be the woman I am today. I wouldn’t even be in the real estate industry. Her death (six years ago), was the most devastating thing to happen to me to date. I strive to continue her legacy by making a positive impact on as many people as possible just like she did with anyone who knew her.

A shout out of love and gratitude to each and every individual on our real estate team. One cannot be a leader without people to lead. They trust me and I trust them. I will do everything in my power to help each of them obtain whatever goal they set out to accomplish in this wonderful industry.

A final shout out to Lars Hedenborg with Real Estate B-School. With his mentorship and tutelage, I have the know-how and the confidence to build a real estate company that will serve hundreds of people every year and to contribute to the lives of other realtors to reach and obtain their dreams and goals by staying relevant in an ever-changing industry.
