We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Joralmon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lindsey, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Although small and still unknown, I consider my brands a success through the sales that have been made thus far. Each purchase supports a respective foundation that advocates for mental health awareness, suicide prevention and domestic violence so knowing I’ve been able to give back to these important causes, even if in little increments, makes me feel accomplished. Every new order provides a sense of satisfaction to know someone liked one of my garments enough to make a purchase when there are so many other apparel options they could have chosen. My designs are a creative outlet that represent something that has transpired within my life in some way and I hope they speak to people beyond just being a picture on a shirt. The most important factor behind my success is to turn the adversity myself or someone I know has experienced into a work of art someone can wear while giving back to organizations that support causes close to me.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Pretty.Strong.LLC consists of two clothing brands and a charity organization; P.S. James apparel, Disarray Clothing Co. and Project B.I.N. Bags. P.S. James and Disarray Clothing Co. offers graphic tees for men, women and children. My story or the story of someone/something important to me is told through the design or phrase on each item. The goal of both brands is to empower people to accept what makes them human. Through each purchase a respective foundation is supported to help continue the efforts that allow for the research, treatment and education of mental health, suicide prevention and domestic violence so everyone can receive the resources they need. Partnered with Control Alt Delete, LLC, Project B.I.N. Bags provides empowering bags of hope to domestic violence survivors. Through the collection of donated items and proceeds from select P.S. James apparel items, tote bags containing basic immediate needs are provided to survivors escaping domestic abuse situations. What I want the world to know about my brands is that when you make a purchase you aren’t just buying a tee, you’re making a difference in the lives of others. When you wear a shirt by P.S. James or Disarray Clothing Co. you are representing a grassroots company trying to be a voice for those struggling in silence and bringing hope to a community plagued by stigma.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My daughter, Ava James, is the inspiration behind P.S. James apparel. I created the brand to provide apparel and affirmations with the mission to encourage self-care, empower body liberation and embrace self-acceptance. My hope is that it will inspire her and future generations of women to grow up confident in their skin and fearless in the pursuit of their passions.
