We had the good fortune of connecting with Minon Maier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Minon, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I decided to start my own therapy practice after working for other therapists in their group practices for nearly a decade. I made this decision in June of 2020 to leave the group practice and started Maier Counseling and Wellness. At that time, I was the only employee of the business but it has now grown into a group practice of talented female therapists. I wanted to have my own business and brand that was a better representation of my style of therapy.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My practice is a small group of highly skilled therapists and we love what we do. We each have our own specialities ranging from trauma therapy, couples therapy, LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent therapy and assessment, family therapy and individual therapy. Our practice values authenticity and safety. Each therapist strives to create a safe space for each and every client that comes in. Our goals and to help clients reach their goals. We are more than therapy, we also use intuitive and energetic practices to help clients heal.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In my free time, I can be found at Orange Theory getting a good workout in, at the movies (we love Majestic), or by the pool. If I’m planning a fun weekend, I’d do a staycation in Sedona. I’d visit all the crystal shops and spend time in some of the vortexes Sedona has to offer.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
One of the most important factors have been listening to my intuition and being authentic as I built my practice. This has lead me to hiring amazing therapists working for the practice and attracting clients that are in alignment with the practice. Another important factor has been all the supportive colleagues I work with. We support one another, professionally and personally. Being a therapist in private practice can feel isolating and lonely but we have created a small community of women supporting other women. My most important factor behind my success has been my husband, Stephen Maier’s, unwavering support. He has given me tremendous support, encouragement and praise. He is always willing to help out with small tasks, or will let me run ideas past him for marketing or business planning. He is an amazing father to our two sons. This has allowed me to build my business and to keep expanding. He has been on this journey with me since undergrad and has never stopped believing in me.
