We had the good fortune of connecting with Mitch Prager and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mitch, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Soberman’s Estate is a state licensed, nationally accredited, world class residential treatment center for adult men to recover from alcoholism and addictions. The thought process for starting this business was based on the loss of my older brother Jeff to an accidental opioid overdose in 2010 and the loss of my best friend Jerry who died of alcoholism in 2012. Both Jeff and Jerry may be here today if they were treated in a residential treatment center exclusively for professional adult men. As none existed to the best of my knowledge I began a journey to create the most comprehensive treatment program for adult men. I toured treatment centers throughout the US and Internationally and having experience as an Executive Search Recruiter, recruited the most respected industry veterans to build the team at Soberman’s Estate. Having been a Hotelier, I created an environment that is not only therapeutic but based in the spirit of hospitality with the guiding principle that treatment is a gift not a punishment.
What should our readers know about your business?
What sets us apart from other treatment centers is the fact that Soberman’s Estate only treats adult men and does so with the utmost in discretion and privacy. Team Soberman created a work strategy we call ITSOCI and that stands for In The Spirit Of Continuous Improvement. We consistently review our performance medically, clinically, holistically, Spiritually and apply to this to the actual facility as well. As of this writing our 36′ X 24″ Greenhouse is nearing completion so soon in addition to our fresh eggs our chickens gift us with each morning, Soberman’s Estate will soon be harvesting our own fresh organic produce. Our new Zen Garden with just the right mix of Native American, Eastern Indian and Mid Century inspiration will be unveiled during the December 2020 holiday season and will feature meditation areas centered around the Earth, Wind, Water, and Wind elements. Soberman’s Estate is known as the home of the Shadow of the Saguaro labyrinth which is inspired by and has the exact path as the 800 year old labyrinth in Chartres, France – clients of Soberman’s Estate journey to the center of the labyrinth and their personal center daily at sunrise and sunset.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Soberman’s Estate is located in the Shadow of the Saguaro 30 miles north of Phoenix, Airport. Soberman’s Estate was designed to have every amenity available (putting green, gym, basketball, hiking paths, resort pool, executive chef, music, art, gardening all in addition to at least three private counseling sessions every week and daily group therapy sessions with a full medical and clinical and holistic staff. Clients typically do not want to leave the Estate although they do enjoy our regular horseback and hiking outings just outside the majestic gates of Soberman’s Estate.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Behind every great Leader is a supportive spouse and Soberman’s Estate would not be open and helping men today if it weren’t for the unwavering, consistent support of my wife Andra who was with me side by side on a daily basis since the conception of Soberman’s Estate. Many of my Team Members at Soberman’s Estate have been on my team since pre-opening such as our Medical Director – Dr. Thomas Gazda, our Operations Supervisor Sandra Starr our Executive Chef Jesse Busch, and our Senior RN Suzie Matzura. A special thanks to our Clinical Director since 2019 Frank Saverino who has brought a higher level of sophistication and comprehensiveness to our Clinical Program and a special thanks to Justin Fisse and Hannah Prager for their community outreach – I’m so proud of Team Soberman as i watch them improve and save lives of men on a daily basis!
