We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk has played such a huge role in my businesses success! I started my business, Miller Massage, out of struggle. I was a single mom, working full time at this really nice day spa, and I just couldn’t keep up with the bills. It was great during the busy part of the year, but summer would come around and there was no work. I decided that if I just rented a little suite and posted on local groups and just taught myself advertising through trial and error, I’d eventually get enough momentum to get my own massage business going. I went around to local businesses and introduced myself, passed out cards to anyone who made eye contact anywhere I went. These almost always turned into appointments on the spot with the hopes of getting them to rebook at the end of their appointments. I was fully booked within a month or two, and the business just kept growing from there. I hired and expanded to a second suite, to a store front. In the first month of opening the storefront, Covid hit and we were forced to close for a few months. When we reopened, I was just so grateful for my team and clients who returned faithfully. Months later we heard the spa I worked at years before, had closed permanently for covid. I made another huge risk and asked about how to get my business into the space. My risk paid off again! I’m the proud owners of a beautiful day spa, that turns out to be extremely busy with just a little advertising!
What should our readers know about your business?
Miller Massage is a woman owned with an all female team. What makes us really unique is the focus on continuing to grown our skills and perfect our craft. We do continued education as a team so that there is consistency with anyone one of the therapists your go to see and we grow as a team. We have curated custom treatments and experiences you can’t get anywhere else! Our team is really close, getting together with families and stepping up to help each other when we need it. It’s just a great group of women uplifting each other and working hard for a business we grew together.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
You can’t visit without seeing Sedona and it’s beautiful red rocks! If you’re looking for a good spot to eat, I’d recommend checking out any Barrio Queen restaurant for the best Mexican food ever!!! The queen enchiladas and the toloache margarita are my go to favorites.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to give a shout out to my grandparents for always supporting me and my path. They helped me alot along the way when I was figuring out how to live my entrepreneurial dreams. They are always my biggest cheerleaders and never miss a chance to say they’re proud.
