We had the good fortune of connecting with Robert DiGregorio and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Robert, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Back in 2015, we had decided that we wanted to get more involved into the Car Community. I started looking around at the different car clubs in the Tucson area, And what I saw really bothered me. Most of the clubs that we had looked at, wanted you to do a probationary period, So they could assess you, and see if you are “worthy” to join them or not. The majority of them also had requirements that I thought were just ridiculous, such as wanting you to put stickers on the front windshield of your car to show your club affiliation, clubs that only allowed certain years, makes or models, or buy and wear the club tshirts and hats ( which were required to be worn at club functions)
Myself, along with a small group of friends got together, and discussed all this.
We decided we would start our own club, accepting any and all who requested to join.
No requirements, No restrictions. No Prejudice.
Just car people that wanted to hang around with other car people.
We started out as a small group of 10 or 12, And before we knew it, we had grown into the amazing thing that Obsession’s Car Club is today.
Hosting almost 100 events per year. Everything from small weekly Cruise-In’s with Freddy’s, monthly Tucson Cars & Coffee with Lowes, to our yearly Arizona Bowl tailgate carshow!
Obsessions is now well into our 5th year and is continuing to grow everyday with the support of an amazing Southern Arizona Car community.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I do have a normal Monday through Friday, 8-5 job like most people do. I’m lucky enough to have a job that I really love, and allows me to still do the things with the car community that I want to do.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Tucson is my home. I am proud to be a native. The variety of cuisine, the places to visit, the events to take part in, and the things to see are all so amazing.
The one thing, that makes Tucson the special place that it is…
The people.
Theres no place like home.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout outs… man, to many to cover them all. I will say the Obsessions Board members, the people behind the scences. The ones making the gears turn, and not getting the kudos for it.
The Sponsors; the businesses that help pay our bills and assist us in doing all we do.
And MOST importantly, The Southern Arizona Car community, and clubs.
Without them coming out and supporting our shows and events, none of this would be possible.
Thank you to my loved ones, family and friends for allowing me to live this awesome car life dream.
