We had the good fortune of connecting with Yolanda Lake and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yolanda, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a mother of four beautiful children, one of the most important things I have done that has impacted my children is following my dream of becoming a Makeup Artist. I always wanted to be a mom and I love every moment of it! And after seeing them go from babies to big kids, I realized that it was the perfect moment to grow and go after my dream, so I signed up for Makeup School. I will never forget the day I graduated from The Skin and Makeup Institute, All my kids were so excited for me and my oldest daughter came to me and gave me a big hug and said “Mommy I am so Proud of you.” with a huge smile on her face, At that moment I realized how important it is to follow your dreams no matter what stage in your life you are in. By me going after my dream my kids could see and learn that dedication and hard work will always lead you to good things, I believe that by setting a good example is the best way of teaching our kids. That was huge positive impact on my kids, teaching them that they can set goals and dream. And that No matter how big or small your dreams and goals are You are in charge, and You and only you can make your dreams come true. Now when they see my work on a Magazine, and they realize that I am a successful Makeup Artist. They get excited and start dreaming and making plans for their future, and that It is a absolutely priceless.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One of the things that sets me apart from other artists, is That I always like to make my clients not only look beautiful but feel beautiful In a NATURAL WAY. It doesn’t matter what kind of look my clients want it can be a clean look, or a glam or dramatic look, I like achieving those looks but I like my clients to still look like them self’s, and not to look like someone they have never met before. “Makeup should be never be used to hide your self. It should be used to enhance your Natural beauty.”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There so many beautiful places in the city to visit, I guess it all depends on what are you favorite things to do, but here are a few of fun places that I would recommend. Desert Botanical Garden, Camelback Mountain, Papago Park, Musical instrument Museum.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the love and support of my wonderful husband and kids. I have worked with so many talented, amazing photographers. But I do have to give a huge shout out to a couple of photographers who gave me my first opportunity to work with them and show my work. Amanda Cromer Photography and Trish Spencer with Leap of Faith photography T.O. And Of course There has been many other photographers and wedding planner that have also help me along the way, which I am always so grateful for their trust. Like Stephanie White with Amorous Weddings and Events, Dionne Washington with Dionne Events, Amanda Capello with Acapello Photography, Malia Battilana with Malia B Photography. and so many more!! I am extremely grateful and humble to be able to work right along with so many talented People!
