We were fortunate to catch up with some brilliant artists, creatives and entrepreneurs from throughout the Houston area and they share the wisdom with us below.

AZFOMO – Brielle Bethune | Social Media Marketer, Blogger and Content Creator

I kept hearing the phrase “there’s nothing to do in Arizona,” and “Arizona’s boring!” Me, being from a much smaller town thought to myself, that’s crazy! There’s plenty to do, you just need to know where to look. I have always been known as the girl that’s “always up to something,” and kind of a natural-born social media guru who has always loved documenting and recording my adventures so this was the perfect opportunity. I saw a need for more Arizona activities and entertainment so that Arizona locals and first time visitors alike wouldn’t be so bored! Read more>>

Will Roberts | Fitness Coach. I perform FITNESS MIRACLES!

Playing sports as a kid and working my way into high level sports (minor-pro hockey and American Ninja Warrior) showed me the determination and resilience needed to be successful…not just in sports, but in any endeavor. You would often hear stats like “only 1 percent of people that play this sport will move on to the next level”. I always took that as encouragement instead of discouragement. All I needed to do was beat out those other people and I could be successful haha. Read more>>

Christian Huskins, C.Ht | Certified Hypnotherapist

Being a wife, mom of 6 children, and a business owner the value that matters most to me is Integrity. For both my personal life and as a Hypnotherapist, Integrity is essential as it builds trust, respect, credibility and accountability. As a mom, Integrity is crucial as I am their role model and need to ensure I am leading as a positive example. When I was a child I was raised with judgement, being criticized, felt less than like I could never do anything right, and I made a choice to raise my children differently. My children trust me and know that I am always truthful, reliable, consistent, fair and always provide a safe space to confide in me. Read more>>

Deavron “The Urban Explorer” Dailey | Award-winning visual artist

Seeking out and interacting with new or unfamiliar locations, communities, and art production spaces is one of the fundamental elements of my art practice. I use a wide range of artistic media to create my work. Determining which skills or talents I possess that align with the creative and social goals of a community allows me to make more of an impact while continuing my own creative pursuits. I am also a curator, program facilitator, and public artist that creates medium to large-scale artworks and installations. By sharing these experiences with other creatives and communities I am able to achieve tangible results that go far beyond words of encouragement. Read more>>

Amber Marquette | Founder of Maddox Lane

The hits are going to keep on coming, you have to roll with them. We’ve endured a pandemic, staffing challenges, economic changes that have inflated food costs. Financially, I’ve been stressed. There is uncertainty when you rent a space over owning a space, there are people who will decide not to show up for work one day when you need them. In this industry there will be inevitable human error…the hits go on and on. You must commit to learning, growing, adapting or changing, evolving, moving on, becoming solution oriented and rolling with it. Or not. Read more>>

Liz Barbosa Sanchez | Professional Hairstylist & Beauty/Lifestyle Content Creator

I always love incorporating my Mexican roots into my life. When I was starting out in cosmetology school, I wanted to create a social media name that had a meaningful connection “Belleza,” which translates to “beauty” in Spanish, was my way of combining my love for beauty with my Mexican heritage. I wasn’t sure which field in the beauty industry I would pursue, so “Belleza” was perfect as it applies to everything. I love it! I get compliments all the time. It makes me proud of everything I have worked for. I am a proud Mexicana living in the United States, and I feel privileged to own my business. Read more>>
