Honestly, I didn’t wake up one day and decide I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I just knew I didn’t want to keep handing over control of my time and standards to someone else. I don’t think starting my own business was a single decision — it was a natural evolution of who I’ve always been.
I grew up in a dance studio. My mother was the administrative director of a large studio, so from my earliest memories I was surrounded by music, movement, costuming, and the electricity of live performance. I started The Casa Grande Drum Academy because I saw a need in the community. There weren’t many people in Casa Grande teaching drums, especially for kids who were interested in learning. I realized there were students who wanted the opportunity but didn’t necessarily have a place to go for lessons, and I thought, “Why not step in and provide that?”. Read More>>

It started with a dog. In December 2004, our terrier mix Little Bit was diagnosed with lymphoma. She was thirteen pounds. I started a journal in her voice, writing about her treatment, and somewhere in the middle of all that I started photographing her every day. Not for any particular reason. When I was growing up, I had aspirations to become law enforcement. I began on that path but then quickly had a momment where I boilded down why I wanted to become law enforcement..
