Meet April Washinowski | FNP-C | Owner of Karma Aesthetics and Wellness | Founder of the Injector Blueprint Training Academy

We had the good fortune of connecting with April Washinowski and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi April, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think risk has played a huge role in both my personal life and career. I’ve learned that growth usually comes from stepping into situations that feel uncertain but aligned with your bigger vision. For me, risk-taking has looked like entering highly competitive spaces, building and expanding businesses, stepping into leadership positions, and trusting myself enough to learn as I go.
I don’t believe in reckless risk — I believe in calculated risk. I think the best decisions come from balancing intuition with preparation. Some of the biggest opportunities in my life came from saying yes before I felt 100% ready. Taking risks has taught me adaptability, resilience, and confidence in my ability to navigate challenges, even when outcomes aren’t guaranteed.
In healthcare and business especially, I think being willing to evolve, innovate, and make difficult decisions is necessary for long-term success. Every major step in my career involved uncertainty, but those moments ultimately pushed me into the most meaningful growth.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career has really been built on adaptability, persistence, and a willingness to grow through every stage instead of waiting until everything felt perfect. I’ve worked in healthcare, aesthetics, leadership, operations, and patient care, and one thing that sets me apart is that I genuinely care about both the human side and the systems side of what I do. I love creating experiences where people feel seen, educated, comfortable, and cared for — whether that’s a patient, a client, a coworker, or someone I’m mentoring.
Professionally, I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve been able to grow into leadership roles while continuing to stay hands-on and connected to the people around me. I’ve helped build and expand businesses, improve patient experiences, develop teams, and create environments where both providers and patients feel supported. I’m especially passionate about education and mentorship because I know how overwhelming healthcare and aesthetics can feel when you’re first starting out.
It definitely was not easy getting to where I am today. There were a lot of moments where I had to learn on the fly, take risks, work long hours, and push through self-doubt. I’ve experienced setbacks, stress, and situations that forced me to become more resilient and adaptable. But I think those experiences ultimately made me a stronger leader because they taught me how to problem-solve, communicate under pressure, and keep moving forward even when things felt uncertain.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that success is rarely linear. Growth comes from being willing to evolve, ask questions, accept feedback, and stay consistent even when progress feels slow. I’ve also learned that authenticity matters. People connect with honesty, compassion, and realness far more than perfection.
What I want the world to know about me and my story is that my goal has never been just to build a career — it’s to make an impact. I want people to feel empowered, supported, educated, and confident after interacting with me or the brands and teams I’m a part of. At the end of the day, I want my work to leave people better than I found them.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly, if my best friend came to Arizona for a week, I’d want it to feel like the perfect mix of relaxing, aesthetic, fun, and slightly chaotic in the best way. I’d definitely build the trip around good food, coffee, sunsets, wellness, and unique local spots.
We’d absolutely start the mornings at Switch Brews because it has such a good vibe — great coffee, cute atmosphere, and it feels very Arizona without trying too hard. After that, I’d probably take them to explore Gilbert or Scottsdale, do some shopping, and just enjoy being outside because Arizona sunsets genuinely never get old.
One of the main experiences I’d plan would be a day at Revel Surf at Cannon Beach. I think it’s one of the coolest newer concepts here because it feels unexpected for the desert — surfing, beach energy, food, music, and a really social atmosphere all in Arizona. It’s such a fun way to spend an entire day.
Of course, I’d also bring them by [Karma Aesthetics & Wellness](https://karmaaestheticsandwellness.com?utm_source=chatgpt.com) because that space is such a huge part of my life and something I’m really proud of. Even outside of treatments, I love the environment and community we’ve built there. I think when your friends visit, you naturally want to show them the places that represent you and your story.
For food, I’d probably mix trendy spots with local favorites — dinner in Old Town Scottsdale one night, a casual patio brunch another day, maybe rooftop drinks, live music, and definitely at least one late-night drive listening to music with Dutch Bros in hand. Arizona has this really underrated mix of luxury, wellness culture, outdoors, and laid-back energy that I think people don’t fully expect until they experience it.
I’d also want them to see the desert properly, so probably a sunset drive or an easy hike somewhere scenic like Papago or South Mountain. Even after living here, the landscape still feels surreal sometimes.
What I love most about Arizona is honestly the people and the energy. There are so many entrepreneurs, creatives, healthcare professionals, and people building cool things here. It feels ambitious without being overly corporate, and there’s a really strong sense of community if you find the right spaces.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would definitely dedicate my shoutout to the people who believed in me during seasons where I was still figuring things out myself — especially my family, mentors, coworkers, and the patients and clients who trusted me early on. I think a lot of growth comes from people giving you opportunities before you feel fully ready for them.
I’d also give credit to the environments that challenged me. Some of the hardest moments in healthcare, leadership, and business taught me the most about resilience, communication, and adaptability. Those experiences shaped how I lead and care for people today.
If I had to narrow it down further, I’d say the biggest influence has been the strong women around me — women who balanced careers, caregiving, leadership, and personal struggles while still showing up for others. Watching that firsthand really shaped my work ethic and perspective on success.
And honestly, I think patients deserve recognition too. Working closely with people and hearing their stories constantly reminds me why empathy, education, and human connection matter so much in healthcare.
