We had the good fortune of connecting with Kray.Cee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kray.Cee, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I can do and say what I want when I want and there be a true authentic feeling behind it that came from me. I love being able to get crazy, loving, sexy, or raw without having to conform.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I write music, I’m free. I paint a picture in my head in my world that no one else can see but me. I’m just inspired by life and everything in it. Sometimes I may say things in such a metaphoric way, that some don’t understand, but I like that because it creates a mystique. I may reveal something, but not everything. I was excited to have my music on TV for the first time, shoutout to JC3, that was a really cool moment. I work a lot, whether it be writing music, doing hair, doing homework, spending time with my husband and kids and my family, its a lot of pressure at times since I’m spread so thin. I workout, meditate, and pray to stay balanced and grounded. In a few words about my brand story, I’m authentic, I like to be different, and I will forever encourage myself and others to be true to who you are and always stay 10 toes down.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s still so much I haven’t seen, so we’d be on an adventure together! Ha. I would take them hiking in any mountain for sure, love hiking. I’d take them to Tempe Town Lake and Mill Ave., Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall, Tempe Marketplace, Sedona, Havasu Falls, Slide Rock, Sealife, the Phoenix Zoo, checkout some local music showcases or comedy shows, the list goes on. Some eateries would be Squid Ink, Durant’s, Broken Yolk, Harbor Seafood, even a good old cookout on the grill in the backyard with some music, drinks, friends and game night! Gotta love it!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I thank God, my parents, my family, my husband and kids, my close friends, JC3, and my fans. They have all in different ways showed me support, love, and encouragement. I thank them all for that, it means a lot. I love to read so there are tons of books and articles I’ve read to help me, one in particular is “All You Need To Know About The Music Business” by Donald Passman.
