We had the good fortune of connecting with Kylie Holman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kylie, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson I have learned throughout my career is to stay true to myself. I write everything I sing, which is one of the things I love most about being an artist. I stay true to myself and my artistry by not allowing society’s standards to altar my perception of my art. I learned to stand tall and be proud of myself in everything I do, not everyone will support you and that’s okay.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have evolved in my music so much over the past decade, I started out playing percussion when I was in elementary school. I still play the drums but when I realized my passion for singing, that became my priority. Starting out I was extremely shy and took voice classes to help ease my nerves. I had a vocal coach I saw once a week that helped me learn the importance of breathing techniques and control. I’m still learning every day and perfecting my craft, which is why I went to school for audio engineering. I learned what everyone behind the scenes is doing for the singer to make them shine. Getting to see my craft from and audio engineer perspective has truly helped me as a singer. Fast forward to today I stay active in my audio engineering skills and love singing live shows. My latest track “Show Me Everything” was released recently on all platforms and I couldn’t be more thrilled as that is my third song to be released.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them hiking up Superstition Mountains and visiting the ghost town up there. The botanical garden, just to show them how beautiful the desert can be. For more of a night scene I love downtown Phoenix, first Friday on the first Friday of every month is my favorite. The Phoenix museum is also open for free during that time. Some gods places to eat and drink include four peaks brewery, joes farm grill, and the salt cellar if your looking for amazing sea food.
