Meet Josh Logan

We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh Logan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Josh, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe the biggest factor behind both my personal success and the success of Guardian Training & Consulting has been authenticity combined with consistency. I’ve never tried to build a brand around hype or social media trends. Everything I teach and represent comes from real world experience, continuous learning, and a genuine commitment to helping people become safer, more capable, and more prepared.
My background in the military, law enforcement, firearms instruction, and expert witness work taught me early on that credibility is earned over time. People can tell very quickly whether someone is speaking from experience or simply repeating information they’ve heard somewhere else. Because of that, I’ve always focused on staying a student of the profession, improving my craft, and delivering training that is practical, professional, and grounded in reality.
When I started Guardian Training & Consulting, the mission was never just to create a business. It was to create something meaningful that could positively impact people’s lives. Whether I’m teaching officers, mentoring instructors, working with security professionals, or training responsibly armed citizens, the goal is always the same: help people perform at a higher level and make better decisions under pressure.
That same mindset carries over into my work with Logan & Partners, where I assist in reviewing complex use of force incidents, officer involved shootings, self defense cases, training standards, and critical incident analysis. A large part of what I do involves helping attorneys and legal teams understand human performance under stress, Force Science principles, decision making, and whether actions were objectively reasonable based on the totality of the circumstances. It’s work that requires attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to explain highly complex issues in a clear and credible way.
I’m also heavily involved in instructor development through the NRA Law Enforcement Division and the USCCA. As an NRA Law Enforcement Staff Instructor and USCCA Training Counselor, I’ve had the opportunity to help develop and mentor instructors across the country. That role is something I take seriously because quality instructors have a direct impact on the safety, competence, and confidence of the people they train. Helping instructors improve their teaching ability, communication, and professionalism creates a ripple effect that extends far beyond a single class.
I also believe consistency matters more than motivation. Anyone can be passionate for a short period of time, but long term success comes from showing up every day, maintaining standards, and doing quality work even when nobody is watching. Reputation is built through small actions repeated over time.
Another important factor has been adaptability. The training industry, legal landscape, and public safety profession are constantly evolving. I’ve always tried to stay open minded, continue learning, and integrate better methods, technology, and research into the work we do. That mindset has helped me grow not only as an instructor and business owner, but also as a leader and consultant.
At the end of the day, success for me is not measured only by business growth or recognition. It’s measured by impact. If the training we provide helps someone make a better decision, avoid a tragedy, become more confident, or go home safely to their family, then we’ve accomplished something meaningful. That’s what continues to drive me every day.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Guardian Training & Consulting was built from a genuine passion for training, mentorship, and helping people become more capable and prepared in high stress situations. After spending years in the military, law enforcement, and firearms instruction world, I saw firsthand how important quality training is and how much of an impact the right instructor can have on someone’s confidence, mindset, and decision making. I wanted to create something that was rooted in real world experience, professionalism, and continuous growth rather than hype or ego.
What sets Guardian apart is that everything we teach comes from experience and a commitment to realism, accountability, and performance under pressure. Whether we’re training law enforcement officers, responsibly armed citizens, security professionals, or developing instructors, the focus is always on practical application and preparing people for reality, not just passing a qualification or checking a box.
I’m also very proud of the instructor development side of what we do. Through my work with the NRA Law Enforcement Division and the USCCA, I’ve had the opportunity to help mentor and develop instructors across the country. There’s something incredibly rewarding about helping other instructors improve their ability to teach, communicate, and positively impact the people they train. That ripple effect can extend far beyond a single classroom or range.
Alongside Guardian Training & Consulting, my work with Logan & Partners has allowed me to assist attorneys and legal teams with complex use of force cases, Force Science analysis, officer involved shootings, self defense incidents, and critical incident reviews. Being able to bridge the gap between training, human performance, investigative analysis, and the legal side of these incidents has been both challenging and meaningful work. It has also reinforced the importance of proper training, decision making, and understanding human performance under stress.
The journey definitely wasn’t easy. Like most people building something from the ground up, there were moments of uncertainty, setbacks, long hours, and sacrifices behind the scenes that people never see. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that consistency matters more than motivation. You have to keep showing up, keep learning, and keep improving even when progress feels slow.
I’ve also learned the importance of surrounding yourself with good people. Mentors, family, friends, and other professionals who genuinely want to see you succeed can make a huge difference. My wife Karen has been one of the biggest reasons I’ve been able to continue pushing forward. She believed in me long before I fully believed in myself, and her support through every stage of this journey has meant everything to me.
At the end of the day, I want people to know that Guardian Training & Consulting and my work with Logan & Partners are about much more than firearms or tactics. It’s about helping people become safer, more confident, more disciplined, and better prepared for difficult situations both professionally and personally. If we can help someone make a better decision, improve their performance under stress, or go home safely to their family, then we’ve accomplished something meaningful.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If one of my best friends was visiting Arizona for a week, I’d want them to experience the side of Arizona that most people never really get to see. Of course we’d hit some of the best restaurants and spots around Scottsdale and Phoenix because Arizona has an incredible food scene, from great steakhouses and Mexican food to hidden local spots that really capture the culture here. Good food, good bourbon, and good company are hard to beat.
But for me, the best parts of Arizona are outside the city. I’d take them up north to places like Happy Jack, Flagstaff, and Payson. There’s something about getting out into the mountains, breathing the cool air, and disconnecting from everything that resets you. Arizona has an incredible mix of desert and forest, and a lot of people are surprised by how beautiful the northern part of the state really is.
Some of my favorite moments are the simple ones. Sitting in front of a campfire with a good glass of bourbon, a steak on the plate, and absolutely no noise except the wind through the trees. After spending so many years in high stress professions, I’ve learned to appreciate peace, quiet, and the outdoors in a completely different way. Camping has become a way for me to recharge and clear my head.
I’d also definitely introduce them to Arizona’s country music and dance scene. One of my favorite things to do is go two stepping with my wife. Those are some of the moments I value most because life gets busy, and spending quality time together matters. There’s something about good music, good people, and a laid back atmosphere that reminds you to slow down and enjoy life a little more.
Sedona would absolutely be part of the trip too. The red rocks are unlike anything else, and there’s a unique mix of rugged beauty, western lifestyle, and small town charm that makes it one of my favorite places in Arizona. Whether it’s taking a scenic drive, exploring trails, or just sitting somewhere taking in the views, it’s hard not to appreciate the landscape there.
I’d also want them to experience our hometown of Fountain Hills. One of the things I love most about it is that it’s a Dark Sky Community, which means you can actually step outside at night and see the stars the way they’re meant to be seen. In a world that constantly feels busy and connected, there’s something peaceful about sitting outside at night under a clear Arizona sky and just slowing down for a while.
At the end of the day, what I love most about Arizona is the balance. You can work hard, chase goals, build a career, and still find places where life slows down enough to reconnect with what really matters.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout first and foremost to my wife, Karen Logan. She believed in me long before I truly believed in myself. Through every challenge, career change, late night, setback, and goal, she has always stood beside me and supported the vision even when it was just an idea. Building a business, working in law enforcement, teaching, consulting, and constantly pushing yourself professionally can take a lot out of you, and having someone in your corner who genuinely believes in you makes all the difference. I honestly would not be where I am today without her love, patience, and support.
I also want to recognize my mentor and fellow firearms instructor, Bill Campbell. Bill has been someone I’ve learned a tremendous amount from over the years, not just about firearms instruction, but about professionalism, leadership, and how to carry yourself the right way in this industry. In a profession where credibility and integrity matter, having mentors who hold you to a higher standard is invaluable. He’s had a major impact on the instructor and professional I’ve become.
Beyond that, I’m grateful for the many people I’ve worked alongside throughout my military, law enforcement, and training career. Every instructor, officer, student, and mentor I’ve crossed paths with has contributed in some way to my growth. This profession is built on shared experience, and I never take for granted the opportunity to continue learning while helping others grow as well.
At the end of the day, none of us get where we are alone, and I’m thankful for the people who believed in me, challenged me, and helped shape the path I’m on today.
